President's Message
A word from the President of ANDM on the network's mission and the road ahead.
From the President's Desk
“Every community deserves to face disaster together, not alone.”
As the President, would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Asian Network for Disaster Management for the tireless work in strengthening regional cooperation, preparedness, and resilience across our communities.
Disasters do not respect borders. Earthquakes, floods, cyclones, droughts, landslides, wildfires, epidemics, and other hazards can affect several countries at the same time. In our interconnected region, no nation can face these challenges alone. Our strongest protection is cooperation—based on trust, shared knowledge, and collective action.
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 reminds us that preventing and reducing disaster risk must be a shared responsibility. It calls on governments, communities, civil society, the private sector, and international organizations to work together to make development safer and more resilient.
Our responsibility is not only to respond to the disasters of today, but to protect future generations from the risks we can reduce today. By standing together, we can turn vulnerability into resilience and uncertainty into preparedness.
Let our region be known not only for its diversity and dynamism, but also for its solidarity in times of crisis.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more resilient future for all.
