A word from the Secretary of ANDM on how the network turns preparedness into practice.
From the Secretary's Desk

The Asian Network for Disaster Management (ANDM), based in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, is an emerging platform that brings together like-minded Non-Governmental organizations, civil society institutions, professionals, and volunteers committed to building disaster-resilient communities in India and across Asia.
ANDM has been steadily developing as a collaborative network dedicated to strengthening Disaster Preparedness, Risk Reduction, Emergency Response, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Preparedness. Its work is guided by the understanding that no single organization can address the growing complexity of disasters alone. Effective disaster management requires partnership, shared knowledge, coordinated action, and strong engagement with local communities.
ANDM provides a space where organizations can connect, exchange experiences, develop capacities, and work together to reach vulnerable populations more effectively. By linking grassroots experience with technical expertise and institutional support, the network seeks to amplify the contributions of its members and promote practical, inclusive, and community-led solutions.
Disasters increasingly affect people who are already living with poverty, social exclusion, displacement, and limited access to essential services. ANDM therefore places emphasis on approaches that protect dignity, strengthen local leadership, include vulnerable groups, and ensure that children, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities are not left behind. This community-centred approach reflects the wider value of NGO networks in sharing expertise, strengthening local capacity, and advocating for improved disaster-risk governance.
As ANDM expands its membership in India and overseas, it invites organizations and individuals who share this vision to become part of a purposeful movement. Through solidarity, innovation, and collective responsibility, ANDM is working to transform partnerships into preparedness, compassion into action, and shared learning into lasting resilience.
